Bong Connection At Zee Cine Awards

What a night!

For the first time, Bengali films competed with Big Bollywood films under one roof. How proud I felt to be present there as one of the representatives of Bengali Film Industry!

While talking about Indian Film Industry, Bollywood is the buzz word. Glamour, big banners, sky-high budget, exotic  locations, super smart marketing strategies- has made Bollywood films to stand out globally. But we are also not too far. Striking story lines, bold themes, corporate funding in Bengali movies are the signals we not too far. Regional cinemas have the potential to stand out in the market of Global cinema.

And Zee Cine Awards 2016 surely deserve a big applaud for providing this wonderful platform to regional cinemas. For the first time they felicitated Bengal Film Industry. And Bengali films bagged three awards- ‘Belaseshe’, ‘Nirbashito’ & ‘Lorai’ got the best film, best actress & best actor award respectively. Though few films got the award, but Bengali Film Industry is the one who is victorious.

Apart from Bengali, there were Tamil, Marathi cinemas who were nominated and got the award in several categories.  There is no denying the fact that Mumbai film industry is the face of commercial cinema in India. But regional cinemas are also wooing mainstream audience. This acceptance, no, doubt, will give regional cinemas a new height!

Now, talking about the event and atmosphere there, it was simply marvelous! Shahid Kapoor & Karan Johar was the emcee for the night. And they set the right mood from the beginning. And when Ranveer Singh appeared on stage, he just injected his energy to the audience! What energy this man possesses. You have to try hard to get bored when he is around. Nana Patekar, with his unique style made all spellbound! Witnessed the mind blowing performances by Sonakshi Sinha, Arjun Kapoor, Kirti Shanon, Anil Kapoor. Anil Kapoor still has an aura which can easily make teenagers & youngsters sit down on their knees. Supheerbbbb!!!!

After party was all about informal adda. Churni was there. Arindam (Arindam Sil), Srijit (Srijit Mukherjee), Paayel (Paayel Sarkar), Subhasree (Subhasree Ganguly), Shibu, Nandita, Rachana, Saswata we all had a great time talking about cinema, life, food and what not!

Cheers to Bengali Cinema!

Love to you all!
