It was a challenge

In 30 years of my career I have taken lots of challenges, but this time the challenge to portray Kushal Hajra was the biggest challenge that I ever took in my life. It’s true that portraying Lalon Fakir in Moner manush was tough and challenging too, but there is something in Kushal. When I first heard the script from Srijit, I was overwhelmed and accepted it at a first go. It was difficult but, I love to accept difficult things.

Today when people are praising my baby, Jaatishwar I am more than just happy. I can’t express my emotions. I am getting lots of messages in Facebook, Twitter, Blog and even SMS just regarding the character I portrayed over here. Portraying Antony Firingee was difficult too, but for me somehow Kushal was the most difficult part, and I am happy that people loved it. The reviews in television and Newspaper are great too.

It is not houseful in Kolkata or West Bengal only, but also in Mumbai and Delhi. The Mumbai special screening was just awesome and many of my Bollywood co-stars and friends praised it. In Delhi I and my team had an amazing experience in Rashtrapati Bhavan. His Excellency Shri Pranab Mukherjee and his wife loved it and were in tears. It is possibly the best gift.

I am thankful to everyone for liking it, and those who haven’t yet watched it; the only thing that I can say is that you will love it. The complete team of Jaatishwar had done a great job and your praising is our best gift. Thanks to you all. Take care, stay blessed, love you all.

Jaatishwar Special Screening in Mumbai

When I landed yesterday in Mumbai, I directly went to PVR Juhu for the special screening of my new film Jaatishwar. I was extremely excited as well as tensed too. As I said earlier, this happens with me every time before the release. But, this time in Mumbai with so many friends and senior people present at the screening, I was really very nervous. The only thing that came to my mind constantly at that time whether they will like the film. We all tried to put our best in the film and I sincerely hope it will prove so.

When every people were busy watching the film I was roaming outside the hall and was going inside frequently to check the reaction of the people. I am really glad that everyone presented over there liked the film and our acting. Our team is very happy too.

Juhi Chawla, Director Onir, Director Soumik Sen and his wife, Music Composer Jeet, Sonu Nigam and his wife, Director Shoojir Sircar, Divya Dutt, Geeta Basra,  Stardust Editor Ram Kamal Mukherjee and many close friends of mine were present there to support me and my friends. It’s not at all an exaggeration if I say that my Twitter and Facebook account are over flooded with comments and praises. Kudos to my team.

It’s releasing on 17th January all over India and I sincerely hope you all will like it. Till then you all take care, stay blessed, love you all.

My Helicopter Journey

Jaatishwar release is nearby and we all are doing the promotion on a full fledge. Yesterday I and my director, Srijit Mukherji did something that shall always remain fresh in the memory. The promotion of Jaatishwar was done at Bolpur yesterday, and we went there riding the Helicopter.
Both of us were extremely excited about the fact, and we would specially like to thank our CM, Mamata di for helping and her team for the arrangement. It was really a very wonderful journey. It’s really amazing that we have reached Bolpur in just 40 mins. It was also the launch of the Air-Taxi service by the Government of West Bengal. It is a wonderful try and achievement indeed.

In the morning after I woke up, I found that it was raining a bit. I was deeply saddened at it, as I thought that due to the weather such a wonderful journey and event will get cancelled. But, we all are thankful to the Almighty that it didn’t happen. We reached safely there and had a wonderful program with the Bauls and the Fakirs.

The promotion is on full fledge and I am quite sure you all will love it. Take care and stay blessed. Love you all.

Sharing screen after 11 years

I know, I am a bit irregular in blog post, but trust me I always try my level best to stay connected with you all. Whenever I get time(though it has become a rare thing now, as Jaatishwar release in near), I try to share all my experiences with you all.
Yesterday I and Arpita launched our new ad for Senco Gold. Both of us are the new Brand Ambassadors of Senco now. We went to HHI and launched the ad.
I am really very happy for this Senco ad. The main reason for this is that me and Arpita shared screen after almost 11 years. Though we did many print ads in between but sharing screen with her after so many years is a very sweet memory and nostalgic too. Thanks to Senco, my director Raja Chanda and to all those people who made it possible. The last film that we two did together was Debdas by Shakti Samanta. Long time indeed.
We had many funny moments while shooting. The funniest one was my NG shots. As, Arpita is much more experienced than me while it comes to commercial shoot, I was a bit nervous before shooting. The funny part is that I gave some NG shots out of nervousness and that made Arpita to laugh out loud. I too was laughing at my own condition. But, never mind at last we did it and I sincerely hope that you all will like the ad.
Will get back to you again after the shoot with new updates.

My Guardian

When I stepped into the world of Bengali films, then I had to struggle a lot. In spite of being a son of a star I never got any special opportunities and I never wanted to. All I remember is that I met different people and whatever work I got during that time, I tried to give more than cent percent so that, no one can ever complain regarding my work. I still remember the days when I always used to reach the studio before time, fearing the fact if I fail to reach in time then I won’t get any more work. But, this has really helped me a lot, as because of this habit today everyone can say that I am punctual.

During that period of time I considered Uttam Kumar, whom I used to call Uttam Jethu as my guardian. In “Dui Prithibi” I did the young age of Uttam Jethu, and thus how we came closer. In my film career, I can never forget the contribution of Uttam Jethu. Whenever I was in need of some advice, he was always there beside me. The sudden demise of Uttam Jethu was not only a great loss to the film industry, but in my life also. I was completely clueless after his sudden death.

When I was very young and my film career just began, then I always wanted to get in touch with Suchitra Sen. I wanted her as a guardian of mine, so that I can understand what my faults are and how could I improve myself. But, that didn’t happen.

But, I got Soumitra Kaku and Ranjit da, who were always there to help me out whenever I needed. After Uttam Jethu, they are my true guardian.

Hope you guys are fine, and are enjoying the winter. Stay blessed, Take care. Love you all.

Kolkata – Mumbai Connection

Yesterday when I reached Mumbai airport after waiting for the delayed flight for about 4 hours, I thought that the temperature of Mumbai is quite normal and it won’t be cold outside. But, I was completely amazed when I found that it is cold here and surprisingly I didn’t have to unzip my jacket. My son, Mishuk said to me “How come Mumbai has such weather today?” I had no reply to it. It is really surprising that the temperature that I felt in Kolkata before leaving the city is almost the same here in Mumbai.

I called up some of my friends and family members to know about the temperature status in Kolkata and they informed me that it’s chilling there. Though we Kolkatans can never feel the temperature of Delhi in Kolkata, but its true Kolkata is chilling too. I am enjoying Mumbai’s temperature and have to finish lots of work over here, and to start with I have to drop Mishuk to his hostel. I have already started missing him.

Mishuk shares his birthday with some of the very close and favorite people of my life. To start with I would say that today is the birthday of a very dear friend of mine Indrani Halder(Mamoni). Mondira is the first film of us that we did together and it was directed by Sujit Guha. After this we two did many hit films like Biyer Phool, Ghorer Lakshmi, Devdas and many more.

Another person who has his birthday today is my younger brother Rudranil Ghosh. His first film was with me and it was Refugee. I also gave him a break in his first commercial movie called Teen Eyari Kotha. He is undoubtedly a superb actor. Recently we shared the screen for Hanuman.com, and it is always fun while sharing screen with him. We too also went to Singapore for the Hanuman.com release.

A R Rahman is undoubtedly one of the best music composers in the world, and I believe that my son is truly lucky to share his birthday with Rahmanji. All his music is just intoxicating and I could listen to all of them without a break.

I wish all of them a very Happy Birthday, and many many happy returns of the day. God bless you all.

You guys take care and enjoy the winter. Stay blessed and love you all.

My son turns 9 years today

Trishanjit (Mishuk), my son turns 9 years today. It really seems like yesterday that I rocked you in my arms until you fell asleep. Though you are just 9 now, but I am thankful that you have become mature at this age. Now, we two compete in Football, Cricket, we hang out together and we definitely watch some amazing movies together. It is true that I truly love hanging with you. You are growing up too fast my boy.

In these 9 years you have turned out to be a totally fearless and a true thrill seeker. Every time you always do certain things that make me nervous and I know that you know this fact too.

Sometimes people tell me that you are my clone, and trust me that make me super happy. But, along with this I am also scared of the fact that the bad habits I have should not get into you.

Today, you are going back to your hostel and I could now spend very few hours with you. At one point I am thankful that I could actually spend some time with you on your birthday, and on the other side it really makes me weak while leaving you at your hostel on your birthday. But, we have nothing to do. This is for your future and we have to accept it.

Though we are unable to celebrate your 9th birthday today, but we already had a huge celebration 2 days back for your birthday.

One thing that I want to share with everyone is that I am truly blessed and proud to be your dad. Love you my son. Take care of yourself; you are a big boy now. We are meeting soon again.

Reincarnation

It is true that even after 30 years into my career still today I get nervous while signing a new film and on the first day of shooting. However, in between these phases, I am into a complete creative mode. Different ideas come into my mind and I start sharing with my team. The same thing happens during the release too. I won’t say that I get nervous, but I am more excited during the release.

As the releasing date for Jaatishwar is knocking the door, I am more and more excited. Every day, I am super busy with the promotions and in between I engage myself in script reading.

As 17th January is approaching, more and more people are interested about the film, and they are curious about the reincarnation part. However, that’s a complete mystery. What I can disclose before the release is that Jaatishwar is a very precious film to all of us, and it has two different time periods- 19th Century and present time. As you all can easily understand that in the 19th century, the plot is related to Anthony Firingee or Hensman Anthony, a Kobiyal of 19th century. Now, how he is related to 20th century and how the reincarnation is associated- to know that you have to watch the film.

Do you guys know that the first Indian film based on reincarnation is Mahal, which was released in the year 1949, and it was produced by our very own Ashok Kumar?  The star cast was excellent too as it had Madhubala ji and Ashok ji. Another info that I want to share with you all regarding this film is that Mahal made Lata ji famous and established playback singer. The very famous song from the film was sung by her “Aayega aane wala”.

When it comes to a Bengali film based on reincarnation, then every Bengali proudly speaks about is Sonar Kella. Mukul is very dear to all of them, and every household has a very special place for Mukul in their heart. It is undoubtedly another classic of all our favorite Satyajit Ray.

There are many famous films based on reincarnation. To start with are Madhumati,  Neel Kamal, Karz, Om Shaanti Om, Hameesha and many more.

So, to know how our film Jaatishwar is related to reincarnation you have to visit the halls from 17th January, 2014 onwards. Take care, stay blessed, love you all and good night.
